Diagrams are an easy yet effective means to break down complex ideas and to visually represent your thoughts or company processes in an organized manner. In XWiki, there are a myriad of formats allowing you to do just that with the intuitive Diagram Application (Pro), thanks to the diagrams.net integration: from wireframes, mockups, UML, charts, BPMN, mind maps, to tree and network diagrams.

If you are already an XWiki SAS client, the good news is that with XWiki Cloud or XWiki Pro on premises, starting with the Basic level, you benefit from support for all the Pro Apps and the XWiki core product. This includes the Diagram App.

While you might be familiar with creating and editing diagrams in XWiki, you've probably stumbled across this quick guide to find out how you can add links to diagrams. We are describing below the steps you need to go through for 2 different use cases.

💡 How to create links to wiki pages from Diagrams that open in a new tab

  • Select the shape or text in the diagram that you want to link.
  • Click the "Link" button in the toolbar or right-click and choose "Edit Link".
  • In the "Link" dialog window, choose "Browse" as the link type.
  • Search for your target wiki page and select it.
  • Confirm the link by clicking on "Apply."

Below, you can see how we've used the Diagram App to illustrate the steps described for creating links to wiki pages as an easy-to-follow alternative to a quick, small guide.
